We are currently on the lookout for guest bloggers to add their expertise to our site. If you’re interested in writing for Bek Davis Web + Graphic Design, we have some simple guidelines to follow. As long as you follow these guidelines, we are happy to consider you as a guest blogger!
Please only submit blog post ideas that are related to our site and business. This includes web design and graphic design, social media, marketing and branding. As long as your posts are high quality and in this niche, we consider them relevant. We would consider alternative topics if you can show us how our audience would be interested in the blog posts. For example, product reviews of mobile apps that would be beneficial to someone who is a small business owner would most likely be considered.
We also want guest bloggers who are bloggers themselves. Not only should you have your own blog, but remain active on it. The reason we prefer this is so we can get a good feel for your writing and blogging style. It helps us determine if your writing style will fit in good with our current content and our readers. If you submit us samples of your work outside of your blog, please also link to your blog so we can take a look.
In regards to the details of the guest blog posts, we would like you to have proper formatting that makes it easy to read. This includes including multiple paragraphs, subheadings and bullet points when appropriate. This helps break up the blog posts, making them easier to read.
Proofreading and Editing
Please proofread and edit your blog posts before submitting them. It helps to read your blog post back to yourself, out loud, as it catches minor mistakes you may have made. We all make mistakes and it helps if you can do some of your own editing. If we make edits to your blog post, it will only be minor changes, such as fixing typos or grammatical errors. We will not re-write your content.
The Post Length
On average, our blog posts are 500-600 words, and we would like guest blog posts to be in that range. Try not to go below 400 words for SEO and keyword purposes. Also, we prefer not to have blog posts over 1,000 words unless the topic calls for in-depth information. Please be aware if we feel it is an incorrect length, we may send it back for corrections.
A Note on Images
We do encourage the use of images, preferably at least one at the top of the blog post. Please keep the images under 700 pixels in size and be related to the blog post. You must also attribute it to the owner of the image. If you can’t find a good image to use, leave it to us to find one for you.
Unique, Original Content
The blog post you submit must be 100% unique and pass Copyscape. We don’t want duplicate content on your blog. We also retail exclusive rights to the content once you submit it to us and it is published on your blog, so please do not repost it elsewhere. We will own the copyright to your content and therefore have the rights to distribute it at will without offering compensation. If we don’t use your blog post, of course the right remain yours.
Links and Byline
You may include a small number of links in the blog posts as long as they are relevant to the topic. Please do not include affiliate links. You are allowed personal links in your byline, so please don’t link to your own site in the content of the blog post.
Since this is a guest blog post, you will have your choice of byline, with a paragraph describing yourself. We want our readers to know a little more about you and why you are an expert on the topic you are writing about. You can have 1-2 links in the byline, as long as they are not affiliate links or pointing to unprofessional, spamming sites.
Remain Active With Readers
Finally, we ask that you come back to your blog post once it has been published. Please remain part of our community and respond to comments on the post. Many readers ask questions, and we ask that you answer them if you’re able to. Additionally, we would like our guest bloggers to be active on social media and post the blog on their social media networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and anywhere else you participate.
