Is it time for a website redesign?
Once you have a solid design for your company website, you become accustomed to it and it can be hard making the decision to change it. While a company website doesn’t need to be redone frequently, there are times when it is time to make a change. Whether that is due to new technology and trends, new technology not included in your website, or because your company has gone a new direction, the following tips can help you determine whether or not it is time to have your company website redesigned.
Your Website is Not Responsive = website redesign needed!
By far one of the most important things to pay attention to is whether or not your website is responsive. It is more important than ever because so many Internet users are accessing websites with their tablets and mobile devices. If your website only works with standard monitor screens, you are at a major disadvantage as compared to your competitors. Most people won’t wait until they are at a computer to visit your site, but instead move on to someone else. Test your website on a variety of different devices to be sure it is responsive with all different formats.
It is Outdated = website redesign needed!
If the look, design and style of the website looks like websites that were popular ten years ago, people aren’t going to have the same impression of it. For example, several years ago, dark backgrounds were a trend with business websites. Nowadays, neutral colors and white backgrounds are what people are looking to see. If you still have that navy blue background, it looks old-fashioned and you might lose some visitors. Now is the time to update the design. You Can’t Update It
There are times when a website needs to be update on your own, without the help of a designer. The newer websites are very easy to update with programs you have on your computer. However, if you can’t seem to update it because it was designed with much older tools, you know it is time to get it redesigned.
The Website is Cluttered = website redesign needed!
Do you notice that the website has so many images, links, sidebar ads, and variance of text that it is hard to focus on any one thing? This is a major faux pas with websites and will cause visitors to quickly leave and find a website that is easier to read. If you have a lot of information to fit on your website, this may just be a design flaw. Hiring a new web designer can help you get what you want, without it appearing too busy and cluttered.
Some Elements Are Not Working = website redesign needed!
Just because elements that worked on your website perfectly five years ago doesn’t mean they are working today. You should take the time to test out every page, element, video, and link on your website to be sure everything is running properly. If not, have a web designer redo these elements for you with a new site.
You Have a High Bounce Rate = website redesign needed!
If when looking at analytics, you notice that visitors leave almost immediately after visiting your site, it is probably due to the design. A second or two is not long enough for visitors to realize they can’t find the right product or information, but it is long enough to determine whether or not they want to bother. A high bounce rate is evidence that your design needs some tweaking.
By testing your website regularly, you can discover issues with it before you lose too many customers. Find a reputable web designer to create a new website that has the same look and feel of your company, but is updated for current tools and technology.
